Dartmouth Promotes Peters, Announces 2008-09 Schedule
HANOVER, N.H. -- With the 2007-08 season
completed and 2008-09 just around the corner, the Dartmouth men's
hockey team has announced a personnel title change along with its
upcoming schedule in preparation for a new and exciting season.
Head coach Bob
Gaudet has announced that long-time assistant coach Dave
Peters has been elevated to the position of Associate Head
Coach.
"I am pleased to recognize Dave for the outstanding job he's done
here at Dartmouth. Dave is universally respected in college hockey
circles and is well-deserving of his new title," Gaudet said. "Both
he and fellow assistant, Brendan
Whittet, do a tremendous job in terms of their partnership,
coaching and recruiting. They are a huge part of our program and I
feel our success is due in large part to their hard work."
The Big Green's coaching staff has been together at Dartmouth for
10 seasons and that level of continuity and longevity have given
the Big Green seven winning seasons, two league titles, three NHL
players and six trips to the ECAC championships
The 2008-09 season will be another challenging one as Dartmouth
looks to improve on last year while bringing its young squad back
to national prominence. The Big Green will play a total of nine
games against teams that finished in the top-20 last season as well
as a difficult ECAC Hockey slate.
Dartmouth opens the season at home against Vermont in the annual
battle of the twin states. The Big Green will go up against four
Hockey East teams as both Boston College and UMass visit Thompson
Arena. The national champion Eagles will visit Hanover in November
while the Minutemen will be a part of the Ledyard National Bank
Classic hosted by Dartmouth in December.
Army and Bemidji will also be a part of that holiday tournament as the Big Green and in-state rival UNH will again battle for the RiverStone in a game that takes place in January at the Verizon Center in Manchester.
