HANOVER, N.H. -- The Dartmouth men's hockey team is looking to
break into the win column early in the 2008-09 season. The Big
Green travels to the Capital District of Albany, N.Y. for a pair of
ECAC Hockey League games this weekend. Dartmouth will take on Union
on Friday night in Schenectady for a 7:00 pm tilt and then travels
to Troy for a 7:00 pm matchup with Rensselaer.
SCOUTING UNION
Union enters the game on Friday on a three-game undefeated streak
as the Dutchmen have a 3-1-1 record. Union recently opened up at
home with a win over Connecticut. The Dutchmen have played against
three ECAC teams but all games were considered nonconference as
Union defeated Quinnipiac and Colgate while tying Rensselaer. The
Dutchmen’s lone loss came at the hands of Nebraska-Omaha.
Currently Union is being led by a trio of sophomores who have all
notched five points. John Simpson, Stephane Boileau and Adam
Presizniuk have each scored three goals and two assists. In net
Corey Milan has shouldered the goaltending duties. He has a .914
save percentage and a 2.31 goals against average.
VERSUS UNION
Union and Dartmouth have been meeting since a 5-3 Big Green win on
Dec. 16, 1977. That victory helped Dartmouth win six of the next
eight meetings before the Dutchmen began to turn the tide, winning
seven of the next eight meetings. In recent history the Big Green
has been on the winning side as Dartmouth currently holds a 20-13-4
lead in the series. Last season the Big Green won, 4-0 at home
before the two teams skated to a scoreless tie at Messa Rink.
Neither team has recorded a season sweep since Dartmouth in 2000.
