At 6-foot-2 and 220 pounds, David Jones can resemble a miniature
freight train rumbling down the wing when he is under a full head
of steam.
It's a trait that impressed the Avalanche last season when the
24-year-old forward was summoned from the minors on three occasions
and stuck for good after his final recall in mid-February.
Jones managed to score only two goals in 27 regular-season games,
and he didn't score at all in 10 playoff contests, but he showed
enough promise that management was willing to let veteran Andrew
Brunette hit the free-agent market.
