Avalanche assistant coach Tony Granato had an attentive audience after the more formal practice work was over Saturday at the Pepsi Center. Waving and gesturing with his stick, Granato made points, while wingers David Jones and Cody McLeod listened, then responded with questions.

McLeod (two) and Jones (one) have a combined three games of NHL experience, and a week ago both were playing for the Lake Erie Monsters of the American Hockey League.

Injuries, including the ones to Joe Sakic and Ryan Smyth, have forced the Avs to call on the Cleveland shuttle, and Sakic and Smyth will be out of the lineup again tonight, when the Avs face the Vancouver Canucks at the Pepsi Center.
