Greening Called to Ottawa

OTTAWA, ONTARIO - The Ottawa Senators today recalled former Cornell forward Colin Greening from the club's American Hockey League affiliate, the Binghamton Senators. Greening is recalled to the National Hockey League for the first time on an emergency basis to replace Jarkko Ruutu.

Greening, 24, has recorded 12 goals, 20 assists and 34 penalty minutes and is a +10 in 48 games during his first professional season with the B-Sens. His 32 points have him tied with teammate Bobby Butler and one other player for third in AHL rookie scoring this season.

A native of St. John's, N.L., Greening played four seasons with the Eastern College Athletic Conference's Cornell University Big Red. The 6-2, 211-pound centre appeared in each of the school's 137 games, recording 118 points by scoring 55 goals and adding 63 assists. Following his senior year, Greening was selected the ECAC hockey-student athlete of the year and was recognized with the Lowe's Senior CLASS award, which is presented annually to the most outstanding senior student-athlete in NCAA men's division I hockey. Greening was Ottawa's seventh-round pick (204th overall) in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft.
