Garman Nets Chance in Native Colorado

WINDSOR, Colo. - The Colorado Eagles, proud affiliate of the NHL's Winnipeg Jets & the AHL's St. John's IceCaps, announced the signing of former Cornell goaltender Mike Garman.

A Vail, Colo. native, Garman (6-foot-1, 195-pounds) spent the past three seasons at Cornell. In 19 games last season, the left-handed catching netminder posted stellar stats, going 8-8-1 with a 2.21 goals-against average and a .928 save percentage. He graduated after his third collegiate year with hopes of starting his professional hockey career.

"Mike had an outstanding season last year and he's a young, hungry goalie. His drive, work ethic and demeanor remind me a lot of a young Tyler Weiman when he first came here in 2004," said Eagles general manager & head coach Chris Stewart.

Prior to attending Cornell, Garman played two seasons with the Nanaimo Clippers in the British Columbia Hockey League. Combined, he went 43-18-0, with a 2.71 GAA and a .895 SV%. In 2007-08, he helped guide the team to the BCHL's regular season title.
