Surgery Puts Bitz Out of Canucks Picture

Talked at length with Byron Bitz in the summer. His enthusiasm was obvious. So was his relief.
In August, Bitz saw himself as having a new lease on his career. Not only was he eyeing a fourth-line spot with the Canucks, he felt healthy again.
You see, groin problems had crippled his NHL career. He had sports hernia surgery in October, and another procedure in January. He didn’t play a game in what was a lost season.
