ITHACA -- Keir Ross has heard it approximately three dozen times over the past three years, and the senior defenseman will hear it again Saturday night when the Cornell men's hockey team takes the ice for its season opener against Mercyhurst.
It's the "Lynah Faithful" in full throat, a sell-out crowd roaring its enthusiastic, deafening "hello" when the Big Red skates onto the ice prior to introductions. The band launches into "Give My Regards to Davy," public address announcer Arthur Mintz makes it official with "Good evening, hockey fans," and hockey night in Ithaca has begun.
"It's a unique atmosphere, and you never get tired of it," Ross, the team captain, said. "I feel the same way every night I step out there. It's never any different."
