McKee Gets Opportunity in Peoria

Peoria Rivermen General Manager Kevin McDonald announced Monday that the club has signed former Cornell goaltender David McKee to a professional tryout contract (PTO).

McKee, 28, joins the Rivermen from the Central Hockey League's Quad City Mallards. In 16 appearances this season, the Irving, Tex. native has posted an 8-7-1 record with a 2.91 goals-against average and a 0.903 save-percentage. He has nine games of AHL experience with the Portland Pirates (2006-07) and the Iowa Stars (2007-08). Overall he is 5-4-0 in those games.

"David's call-up is very well deserved, especially after his seven-game unbeaten streak," said Mallards coach and general manager David Bell. "Hopefully he has the chance to get into a game while he's up there."

McKee is filling in for Rivermen goaltender Jake Allen who has joined Team Canada to participate in the Spengler Cup this week in Davos, Switzerland.
