Cornell Defense, Goaltending will be Sturdy Next Season

It seems the only purpose of the ECAC Hockey preseason polls is to give coaches and media something to scoff at before the games are played.
After all, this is a league where parity is the norm. The three bottom teams in the standings won first-round playoff series, and none of those results could really be called a surprise.
The polls are routinely wrong and sometimes look more like popularity contests than educated guesses. How else could Cornell's preseason selection as No. 2 in the conference be justified when it lost arguably its six best players from the previous season?
