Gallagher Opts to Play in France
Former Cornell standout Blake Gallagher has signed with Strasbourg (France) for the 2011-12 season, the team announced Sunday on its Web site.
Gallagher joins Strasbourg after spending the 2010-11 season, his first as a professional, with Las Vegas of the East Coast Hockey League (ECHL). He also appeared in four games on a tryout basis with Jokerit (Finland). In 61 games with Las Vegas, Gallagher amassed 12 goals and 17 assists in his first professional campaign.
A native from Cole Harbor, Nova Scotia, Gallagher led Cornell in scoring in 2009-2010 with 18 goals and 37 points. He concluded his four-year collegiate career with 34 goals and 66 assists in 133 contests. Gallagher's most productive offensive campaign came during his senior season.
