Q & A with Patrick Kennedy

The following article featuring Cornell forward Patrick Kennedy appeared March 17 on the Inside College Hockey (INCH) Web site.

At this time last season, Patrick Kennedy was playing on one of the top lines for Cornell with Colin Greening and Riley Nash. Those guys have moved on to professional hockey, but Kennedy is one of the seniors on this team that has the Big Red back in the ECAC Hockey championship weekend. We’d call it familiar territory, but that’s probably not accurate since the championship will be played at a new host site this season, Atlantic City’s Boardwalk Hall.

Cornell is seeking to become back-to-back ECAC Hockey tournament champions for the first time since St. Lawrence won titles in 2000 and 2001. We caught up with Kennedy and checked in on the Big Red ahead of their title defense this weekend.

Joe Gladziszewski: What did it tell you about your team in getting those close wins over Quinnipiac in the quarterfinal round in some really tough, close games?

Patrick Kennedy: I think our team showed a lot of resiliency last weekend. Losing (Saturday) 1-0 and coming back in the third and decisive game and going to overtime, it was a battle. We’ve been here all year. We’ve been in a lot of OT games, a lot of tight-checking games, a lot of one-goal games. I think it was a big character builder for our team and it’s nice (for the team) to get the OT-winner. It uplifts the spirits in the room for sure.
