ITHACA -- It's not uncommon for the anger of a head coach, stoked immediately after a difficult loss, to dissipate after a thorough review of the game film. Things are usually never as bad as they seem in the moment.
Such was not the case, however, with the review of the Cornell men's hockey team's 5-1 home loss to Union on Jan. 15. One night after beating up Rensselaer, the Big Red failed to hit the reset button emotionally and got drilled for it.
"It was embarrassing," said Cornell coach Mike Schafer, using the same word he used the night of the loss. "The only reason it was embarrassing for us is that I thought they outworked us on our home ice. We had a good win Friday where we played solid and we didn't carry that momentum over."
