Abbotts Extend Stay in Sweden
Luleå Hockey (Sweden) announced that it has reached agreement with former Cornell standouts Cam and Chris Abbott on one-year contract extensions. The Abbotts joined Luleå Hockey in 2009-10.
“We have had a good dialogue with the brothers and today finally agreed that they will stay in the organization, including for the next season," said Lars "Osten" Bergström.
“We are very pleased to come back and play for Lulea Hockey again next season,” said Chris Abbott. “We love playing here and feel great with the city and all there is to do even outside of hockey. We are now fully focused on finishing this season well, and then giving the team a successful season next year.”
In 47 games this season, Chris leads the team in scoring with 14 goals and 17 assists for 31 points. His 14 goals rank second on the team, while his 17 assists are the fourth-best total on the squad. Cam endured an injury-plagued season thus far, competing in 24 games. He has compiled 15 points, including eight goals.
“It was an absolute desire of the coaches that we would extend to the twins who have been and will remain an important part of our program,” said Bergstrom. “The brothers truly are professional athletes who are well integrated with the team, club and city, and they both are the absolute winner types.”
