Murray Rules the Defensive Zone

DETROIT — When Douglas Murray arrived in the NHL in 2005-06, it took awhile for everyone around the league to realize that the player with the suburban American-sounding name was a proud Swede.
"When guys would get traded here to San Jose, I would have to speak Swedish to them before they would believe me," he said.
About 300 years ago, Murray's ancestors moved from Scotland to Sweden, and opponents might have an easier time accepting that aspect of his family tree because the 6-3, 240-pounder's rough playing style seems like an outtake from Braveheart.
