At the end of his 15th professional season, P.C. Drouin
was not expected to be the 10th or extra forward during the Komets'
playoff run. After all, he was their leading scorer in last year's
playoffs and was the third-leading scorer on the team this season
before sitting out the last two weeks to rest.
“I would probably rather play more obviously, but I kind of
view it as a challenge to find a way back into the regular
lineup,” Drouin said. “I've definitely got more energy
so every time I go out there I can fly around and do more whatever
is needed, if I'm playing the wing, the penalty kill or the power
play for 35-to-40 seconds. It has ended up working out
well.”
The left wing has been perfect as a 10th forward because he can
play on any line in any situation, and he's been through every
tension-filled playoff spot imaginable, usually as one of the
players on the ice in the final moments. Despite the infrequent ice
time, he scored two goals during the three-game sweep of
Bloomington in the first round.
