Team Notes: Cornell to Host Quinnipiac in Quarterfinals

ITHACA, N.Y. -- A trio of upsets in the first round of the ECAC Hockey tournament had a direct effect on the Cornell men, as the Big Red will face eighth-seeded Quinnipiac in the quarterfinal round of the league tournament. The Big Red will play host to the Bobcats in a best-of-three series at Lynah Rink this weekend, with each game slated for a 7 p.m. start.

The fifth, sixth and seventh seeds in the tournament were all upset by the lower seeds in the first weekend, with 12th-seeded Colgate defeating Rensselaer in three games, 11th-seeded St. Lawrence knocking off Princeton in three games, and 10th-seeded Harvard downing seventh-seeded Clarkson in two games.

The quarterfinal round will now feature top-seeded Union playing host to Colgate, second-seeded Yale at home against St. Lawrence, and third-seeded Dartmouth taking on Harvard. The four quarterfinal round winners will advance to the league championship weekend on March 19 and 20 at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, N.J.

Tickets for the quarterfinal series are on sale now at the Cornell Athletic Ticket Office from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, and over the phone at 607-254-BEAR (2327). Prices for each game are $18 for adults and $13 for Cornell students. Should the series not go three games, the March 13 tickets are fully refundable through April 30.
