Barlow Warrants Accolades

BOISE, ID - The ECHL announced Thursday that Idaho Steelheads forward Evan Barlow, a former Cornell standout, has been named the league's Reebok Hockey Player of the Month for January.

Barlow, 25, had 21 points (8 goals, 13 assists) in 15 games during the month for Idaho, including 13 points during a current six-game point streak for the Strathmore, Alberta, native.

It's the second time Barlow has received a league-wide monthly award. He was the ECHL's Rookie of the Month last January. He was also honored when he was named a member of the league's All-Rookie team following the season after netting 75 points in 58 regular-season games and helping the Steelheads reach the ECHL's Kelly Cup finals.

Barlow returned to Idaho from Europe on December 31. In the 17 games since his return, the Steelheads are averaging 3.5 goals per game. In the 31 games prior to his return, the team was averaging just 2.7 goals per game.
