Senators Ready to Give Greening a Shot

NEWARK, New Jersey — Every trip tells a story.
Years from now, Colin Greening might still be regaling listeners about his roundabout route to making his National Hockey League debut with the Ottawa Senators, including the getaway to Chicago that wasn’t.
“It was a big surprise,” said Greening, who was planning on enjoying the American Hockey League’s all-star break in the Windy City when he received the call from the Senators on Sunday afternoon. “I was on the tarmac in Chicago with my girlfriend (Tissy). Actually, she was saying to me, ‘So, where do you want to go to eat first?’ and I’m getting this call and I said, ‘Ah, I don’t think I’m going to be able to do that anymore.”
