Scrivens Earns All-Star Honor
READING, PA - The Reading Royals of the ECHL, affiliate of the
Toronto Maple Leafs and Boston Bruins of the National Hockey League
and the Toronto Marlies of the American Hockey League, today
announced that former Cornell goaltender Ben Scrivens has been
selected to represent the Royals in the ECHL All-Star Classic
presented by CCM, which is to be held January 26, 2011 in
Bakersfield, California. This year's format has the host team, the
Bakersfield Condors, taking on a team comprised of ECHL
All-Stars.
Scrivens, a first year pro from Spruce Grove, Alberta, has
compiled a record of 8-3-0-0 in 11 games with Reading this season.
Scrivens is riding a seven-game win streak with the Royals, which
ties a team record established by goaltender Cody Rudkowsky in the
2004-05 season. Scrivens' 2.18 goals against average is currently
second best in the ECHL; and his .936 save percentage leads the
league. Scrivens is currently on recall to the Marlies where he has
gone 2-1-1 in five games played (3.14 gaa) (.897 save %). Scrivens
is the third goaltender to be selected to represent the Royals in
the ECHL All-Star game, joining Barry Brust (2005 in Reading) and
Cody Rudkowsky (2006 in Fresno, California) to be so honored.
