Gallagher to Showcase Skills in Finland

Former Cornell forward Blake Gallagher seeks to begin his professional career in Finland as he joined Jokerit Monday as part of a tryout agreement, the team announced.

Per the team Web site, Gallagher, who helped guide the Big Red to the 2010 ECAC Hockey Championship title, joins the team for at least three weeks and a minimum of four games. However, it is possible that the probationary period will extend to training matches until the end of September.

The Dartmouth, Nova Scotia native amassed 37 points, including 18 goals, in 34 games for the Big Red in 2009-10. Of Gallagher's 18 goals, 11 came via the power play and four proved to be game-winning tallies. He finished his collegiate career with 100 points, including 34 goals, in 133 contests.
