Bern Reaches Agreement with Krueger

SC Bern of the Swiss National League announced today that it has reached agreement with Cornell senior defenseman Justin Krueger, the 2010 ECAC Hockey Defensive Defenseman Award recipient, to join the team for the 2010-11 season if Krueger does not play professionally in North America. A final decision on whether Krueger will join Bern will be made in mid-August.

Krueger, the son of former Swiss national coach Ralph Krueger, ranked second on the Big Red squad (and top defenseman) with a plus/minus rating of +15. He played a critical role on Cornell’s penalty-kill units, which was tops in conference action with a success rate of 87.3 percent. The Germany native was matched up against opponent’s top offensive line each game, a role he has assumed since his rookie season.  Krueger is also one of the team leaders in blocked shots on the year and helped guide the Cornell defense, which only surrendered 67 goals in 34 games (1.97 G/GM), second-best in the nation.
