Big Red Trio Named to All-Decade Teams
ALBANY, N.Y. -- A trio of former Cornell greats were named to
the ECAC Hockey All-Decade Teams for the years spanning 1999-2000
through 2008-09. The three players give Cornell the most of any
league school, led by first-team honoree, Douglas Murray, who
played for the Big Red from 1999-2003.
Joining Murray on the all-decade teams were second-team honorees
David LeNeveu and Matt Moulson. LeNeveu jump-started the recent
tradition of stellar Cornell goaltenders, while Moulson has
parlayed an outstanding Cornell career into a successful NHL
career.
Murray was a two-time All-American for the Big Red during his four
years on East Hill and was a two-time ECAC Hockey First Team
honoree, in addition to being a finalist for the Hobey Baker Award
in 2002. Murray appeared in 127 games in a Big Red uniform, scoring
24 goals and adding 60 assists from the blue line.
LeNeveu guided the Big Red to the league's only Frozen Four
appearance of the decade in 2003, breaking Ken Dryden's record for
shutouts in a season with nine, a mark that was later broken by
David McKee in 2004-05. LeNeveu ranks second all-time in Cornell
history with a .938 save percentage and is first in goals-against
average, allowing just 1.29 goals per 60 minutes.
Moulson is one of only three players who have ever led the Big Red
in goals three straight seasons, doing so from 2003-04 through
2005-06. He finished 16th all-time in career scoring with 148
points in 134 career games, scoring 71 goals and adding in 77
assists.
Harvard and St. Lawrence both put a pair of players on the
all-decade team., while Yale, Dartmouth, Brown, Colgate, Quinnipiac
and Clarkson each placed one player on the teams.
