Schafer Rallies Support for Stricken Family

The following article appeared in the July 22 issue of the Ithaca Journal.

To put it bluntly, Jerre and Catherine Schafer have been through hell.
Their first daughter, Summer, died when she was just three days old of a rare disorder called diaphragmatic hernia.
The couple's second daughter, Hope, was born with severe myelin deficiency in her brain, and died at the age of 3.
