Scrivens on Hot Streak at the Right Time

ALBANY — Cornell’s ECAC hockey title was not officially clinched Saturday night until the junior forward Patrick Kennedy sealed the 3-0 victory over Union with an empty-net goal in the final minute. But an argument could be made that the Big Red had the tournament won when Joe Devin opened the scoring 15 minutes 9 seconds into the game.
Cornell’s senior goaltender Ben Scrivens had two shutouts in two days as the seventh-ranked Big Red (21-8-4) took home its 12th ECAC tournament title.
“Ben did a tremendous job,” Cornell head coach Mike Schafer said. “We’ve been fortunate to have such strong goaltending. Without that you don’t win championships.”
