Cook to Play in Switzerland
Charlie Cook, a former Cornell standout, has signed a contract with Davos (Switzerland) of the National League A, the team announced. Cook joins Davos after starting the 2010-11 campaign with MODO Hockey of the Elitserien (Swedish Elite League). He was released by MODO November 24.
Prior to 2010-11, Cook spent two campaigns in the Finnish SM-Liiga with Lukko Rauma. In 105 contests, he scored 17 goals and set up 28 tallies.
A 2004-05 ECAC Hockey second-team all-league and NCAA Second-Team All-America selection, Cook played in 19 games with Tappara Tampere (Finland) at the start of 2008-09 before joining Lukko Rauma. He compiled four goals and three assists with Tappara Tampere.
Cook, the 2005 ECAC Hockey Championship Most Outstanding Player, was a four-year letterwinner with the Big Red. In 129 career contests, Cook registered 70 points, including 16 goals. He scored a career-best nine goals and 13 assists in 35 games as a senior (2004-05).
After concluding his collegiate career, Cook spent the last two seasons in the American Hockey League (AHL), playing with the Philadelphia Phantoms (2005-06) and Binghamton Senators (2006-07). In 141 contests in the AHL, totaled 13 goals and 37 assists.
