Barlow Agrees to Play in Norway
Former Cornell standout Evan Barlow has joined Vålerenga (Norway), the team has announced. Barlow recently completed try-out agreements with Rögle (Sweden) and HIFK (Finland).
Barlow spent the 2009-10 campaign with the Idaho Steelheads of the East Coast Hockey League (ECHL) and the Abbotsford Heat of the American Hockey League (AHL). He enjoyed an outstanding first year in professional hockey, garnering ECHL All-Rookie accolades. Barlow finished tops among ECHL rookies in plus/minus at plus-28. Barlow placed second among ECHL rookies in points with 75 and fourth in the entire ECHL with 14 power-play goals. The Cornell product finished second on the Idaho roster in goals (32), assists (43), and points (75). He was also named the MVP of the ECHL All-Star Game in January.
Barlow was a four-year standout for the Big Red. He was named Cornell’s Most Valuable Player in 2008-09 after scoring 27 points (13 goals, 14 assists). In 126 collegiate contests over four years, Barlow scored 28 goals and set up 33 tallies.
