Cornell to Face Brown in Semifinals
ITHACA, N.Y. -- The Cornell men's hockey team will battle
11th-seeded Brown in the semifinals of the ECAC Hockey tournament
on Friday afternoon at the Times Union Center in Albany, N.Y. Game
time will be 4 p.m.
Cornell, the second seed in the tournament, advanced to the
league's semifinals after dispatching ninth-seeded Harvard in two
games at Lynah Rink, winning 5-2 and 3-0. Brown, meanwhile, took
game one over top-seeded Yale on Friday, 3-2, before the Bulldogs
evened the series with a 6-3 win on Saturday. Then, on Sunday
night, the Bears used a short-handed goal midway through the first
period to score the 1-0 victory and earn their spot in the
semifinals.
The other semifinal will feature third-seeded Union taking on
fifth-seeded St. Lawrence in a 7 p.m. contest at the Times Union
Center. The two semifinal winners will play on Saturday at 7 p.m.
for the ECAC Hockey automatic berth into the NCAA tournament.
Cornell won both meetings this season against the Bears, skating
to a 6-0 victory at Meehan Auditorium back in November before
claiming a 5-3 win against Brown on Feb. 12 at Lynah Rink.
