Scrivens, Nash Named First-Team All-America
DETROIT, Mich. -- Cornell seniors Ben Scrivens and Brendon Nash
were both named a Reebok Division I All-American as selected by the
American Hockey Coaches Association. The pair become the first
Cornell players to earn All-America honors since David McKee was
named to the first-team and Charlie Cook and Matt Moulson earned
second-team accolades after the 2005 season.
Both Scrivens and Nash were selected to the first team, the first
time Cornell had a pair of first-team honorees since Cornell placed
three players on the first team in 2003 (Stephen Baby, Douglas
Murray, David LeNeveu).
Scrivens, the top goaltender in ECAC Hockey this season, finished
the year second in the nation in goals-against average (1.87) and
first in save percentage (.934). He also posted seven shutouts on
the season, tying his total from his junior season, and posted the
third-longest shutout streak in NCAA history at 267:11. That also
marked the longest shutout streak in ECAC Hockey history.
Scrivens closed out his Cornell career with a second-team
all-league award as a junior and the first-team selection this
year, in addition to the Ken Dryden Award for the best goaltender.
He finished as Cornell's career leader in career saves (2,873) and
shutouts (19).
Nash, meanwhile, was selected to the ECAC Hockey first-team as a
senior after leading all Cornell defensemen with 19 points on two
goals and 17 assists. He finished seventh among all players in ECAC
Hockey in power-play points (16) and was tied for seventh in the
league in scoring among defensemen.
Like Scrivens, Nash earned second-team All-ECAC Hockey honors as a
junior before garnering a spot on the first team in 2010. He was
also selected to the all-newcomer team as a freshman in 2007.
