Pokulok Opts to Play in Germany
The DEG Metro Stars (Germany) announced the signing for former Cornell standout Sasha Pokulok to a contract for the 2010-11 season. Pokulok joins a team that is coached by former Cornell standout Lance Nethery.
Pokulok joins the Metro Stars from the Bakersfield Condors of the East Coast Hockey League (ECHL) where he has scored 13 goals, 26 assists and posted a plus-8 rating in 49 games last season. Seven of his 13 goals came via the power play. The Vaud-Dorion, Quebec native also competed in 15 contests in the American Hockey League (AHL) spending time with Springfield and San Antonio. He amassed two goals and six assists.
In 2008-09, Pokulok was a member of the ECHL Kelly Cup Champion
South Carolina Stingrays in which he made 11 playoff appearances
and posted four assists.
The Montreal, Quebec native has appeared in 68 career AHL games
recording three goals and 12 assists over the course of four
seasons with Hershey, Springfield and San Antonio.
The 6-foot-5, 230-pound blueliner collected seven goals and 16
assists in 53 games with Cornell University (NCAA, 2004-06). He was
selected in the first round (14th overall) by the Washington
Capitals in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft.
