BOSTON – The injuries to defencemen Jaroslav Spacek and
Paul Mara are proving to be serendipitous to the Canadiens –
and Ryan O’Byrne.
With the two veterans on the sidelines with upper body injuries,
O’Byrne has had a chance to play with Andrei Markov. Spacek
is expected back in the lineup Thursday night when the Canadiens
play the Boston Bruins (7 p.m., RDS, CJAD Radio-800), but head
coach Jacques Martin will be sticking with the Markov-O’Byrne
combination in what shapes up as a crucial game for both teams.
The Canadiens are currently seventh in the Eastern Conference with
a three-point edge over the 12th-place Bruins, but Boston has three
games in hand.
