ITHACA -- While in camp with their respective National Hockey
League clubs this offseason, Colin Greening and Riley Nash learned
two very different lessons.
For Greening, who was with the Ottawa Senators, one realization
was profound.
"One thing I realized is that, to be blunt about it, I want to
make sure I get my degree," said Greening, who scored a team-high
15 goals as a junior. "As much as you want, there's always someone
there to take your spot. It really shows you when you go there. I
mostly play with North American players, but there you're playing
with people from all over Europe and Russia, so it really shows you
how big the hockey pool is and it really shows you how hard you
have to work to get to the NHL level. That's probably the biggest
experience and life lesson I learned when I was there."
