ITHACA -- Of Cornell's freshmen class of nine, defensemen Braden
Birch and Nick D'Agostino are expected to make the most immediate
impact.
Both have already proven themselves at the junior level as Birch
(6-foot-4, 205 pounds) was a sixth-round pick by Chicago in 2008,
and D'Agostino (6-foot-2, 181 pounds) was selected in the seventh
round by Pittsburgh in 2008.
D'Agostino scored twice in Cornell's rout over Windsor, with one
goal coming on a heady play in which he smacked the puck out of
midair through the goalie's five-hole. He also got an extended look
with the power-play unit over the weekend.
