Shotblocking a Key to Cornell's Success

ITHACA — The red badge of courage within the walls of the Big Red dressing room is often a big red welt.

And the way to obtain such a painful prize is as simple as it may seem suicidal — just find a way to get a piece of your body in front of a six-ounce piece of frozen rubber travelling faster than your average Thruway traveler.

Whenever the success of the Cornell hockey team is dissected by an opposing coach, an automatic part of the evaluation is the Big Red's shotblocking prowess.
