ITHACA — The first-round byes have been sewn up and the
final regular-season standings are now somewhat of a formality, but
that doesn't mean there isn't plenty at stake tonight when the
Cornell men's hockey team visits Ingalls Rink.
While the 10th-ranked Big Red (17-6-4, 12-5-3 ECAC Hockey) will
attempt to keep its hopes for the No. 1 seed in the league
tournament alive when it takes on No. 11 Yale (19-6-2, 14-4-2) at 7
tonight, perhaps just as much attention is being paid to national
ramifications.
"I think that going into it, there's more to it than just a
regular-season game," Cornell coach Mike Schafer said. "We're
giving ourselves an opportunity. That's strictly the only
importance of the game."
