Moulson Named NHLPA Player of Week

The following article appeared October 23 on the National Hockey League Players Association (NHLPA) Web site.

Player of the Week:

Matt Moulson (LW, New York Islanders)

Of the three possible candidates on the Islanders’ top line to be named player of the week, one would think that John Tavares and/or Kyle Okposo would be pretty good choices, but it has been their less-recognized linemate who has been leading the way on Long Island. With goals in four straight games, it is North York, ON native, Matt Moulson getting the accolades this week. The 6’1, 206 pound left-winger had four points in three games this past week, with his second multi-point game of the year coming against Buffalo last Friday. A 9th-round draft pick in 2003 by the Penguins, Moulson seems to have found a home in Long Island. After playing a handful of games for the Kings the past two seasons, but spending more time with their AHL affiliate in Manchester, the Cornell graduate is reaping the benefits of playing with his close childhood friend, Tavares.
