ITHACA, N.Y. -- After a regular season that saw the top four teams separate from the rest of the pack, those same four seeds survived the quarterfinal round and advanced to the ECAC Hockey championship weekend in Albany, N.Y. Cornell, the second seed in the tournament, will take on third-seeded Princeton in the second of two semifinal contests at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, March 20, at the Times Union Center in Albany, N.Y. Fourth-seeded St. Lawrence will face top-seeded Yale in the first semifinal at 4 p.m. Both semifinals can be seen live on Time Warner Sports in Central New York and on the NHL Network, while the game can also be heard on the radio on WHCU 870 AM with Jason Weinstein providing the call. The audio feed of the game will also be streamed live through the Cornell RedCast subscription service, and live streaming video of the games can be seen through B2 Networks.

Cornell advanced to the league championship weekend after knocking off 11th-seeded Rensselaer, suriving a scare from the Engineers in the process. RPI took the first game of the best-of-three series, 1-0, on a late goal in the third period, but Cornell rallied to take game two, 4-0, behind a dominating performance on both ends of the ice, out-shooting Rensselaer, 56-9, in the contest. In game three, Cornell got out to a 4-1 lead in the second period before RPI mounted a comeback to cut the lead to 4-3, but the Big Red held on for the win. Senior Evan Barlow led the way for the Big Red, tallying four goals on the weekend, while sophomore Riley Nash had a goal and three assists to equal the four-point weekend. Sophomore Patrick Kennedy chipped in with three assists, and junior goaltender Ben Scrivens was called upon to make just 53 saves on the weekend.

For the season, Nash leads the Big Red offense with 33 points in 32 games on 12 goals and 21 assists. Junior Colin Greening has 27 points on a team-best 13 goals and 14 assists, while classmate Blake Gallagher has 26 points on six goals and 20 helpers. Barlow is also above the 20-point mark on the season, collecting 11 goals and 13 assists for 24 points. Scrivens has a 1.68 goals-against average and a .936 save percentage, ranking him third and second in the nation, respectively, to go along with a national-best seven shutouts.
