ITHACA — Despite getting swept by Union during the 2007-08
regular season, the members of the Cornell men's hockey team will
likely have fond memories swimming through their heads when they
arrive today at Messa Rink.
The fifth-ranked Big Red (11-1-3, 6-0-2 ECAC Hockey) returns to
league play this weekend with games at Union (11-8-1, 4-4) and RPI
(4-15-2, 3-5-1), with the first being a rematch of a conference
quarterfinal series that went the way of the visitors.
Cornell scored game-winning goals on the power play in the third
period of both 3-2 games, earning a sweep and a ticket to league
championship weekend in Albany. The result also extended Union's
infamous streak of never winning a postseason series since the
program joined the Division I ranks before the 1991-1992 campaign.
