Abbotts Select Luleå Hockey (Sweden)

The following article featuring former Cornell standouts Cam and Chris Abbott appeared April 10 on the Luleå Hockey Web site.

Luleå Hockey (Sweden) won the battle for Hockey-Europe's Hottest twins.

Chris and Cam Abbott signed two-year contracts and will pull on the shirt before Luleå Elitserien 09/10.

"We are incredibly excited and already looking forward to the season," says Chris Abbott.

Lars "Cheese" Bergström of Luleå Hockey said, "It became clear fairly early that we would lose Unchecked and Harju and we are pleased of course with them, of course, now they made it clear with Dynamo Moscow. They have been extremely useful for us and have grown over the season in an unbelievable way.

"Of course we realized that we had to work hard to try to replace them and the Abbott brothers, we know that we have succeeded so well that it was possible. They are two really sharp players and also work great together as a unit. Chris and Cam has a high profile image and we are very, very happy that they have identified Luleå Hockey as a good environment for their future career. It is a good rating to the club and Norrbotten that they choose us.

Following are four questions to Chris & Cam Abbott:

Why Luleå?

Chris: First and foremost because we are impressed by the coach of the team. We liked to see it. Recognize also it is exciting to come north, a little adventure for us as we like to be out in the wilderness. And then we must say we are impressed with Lulea Hockey direction after the meeting we had, they did an extremely positive impression on us.

Cam: Chris and I have seen how Luleå play, and we really like what we have seen. Luleå has played disciplined and is a hard working team. We know that we want to be part of the team, it is as simple as that.

What do you bring ot Luleå Hockey?

Chris: We play hockey with great energy and hard work and the thought apparently Luleå Hockey on. We always have high goals and really want to contribute in any way we can.

Cam: We play to win, it's our only focus. And we obviously want to do that in Luleå also. The mentality, I hope we can contribute. In addition, we can hopefully bring speed, power and energy.

What is your brother's best skill?

Chris: Cam has a natural talent for making goals and is really sharp around the net. He plays with speed and has a strong will.

Cam: Chris is a really good two-way player, capable of actually playing against opposition country's best unit and is a really strong skater.

Okay, you are the twins, how can we see the difference for you?

Cam: Chris is the right shot, I am left gunner (laughter!).

Chris: Wow, difficult ... We are very equal in terms of games, but you will probably see that he shoots more often, while I'm looking to pass
