Ratushny Takes Reins of ECH Olten (Switzerland)
The EHC Olten (Switzerland) announced that former Cornell
standout Dan Ratushny has been named head coach. The 38-year-old
Ratushny has agreed to a one-year contract.
A Nepean, Ontario native, Ratushny has extensive experience as a
player, playing abroad in Japan, Finland, Germany and Britain. His
resume includes eight seasons (more than 500 games) with American
Hockey League (AHL) and International Hockey League (IHL)
teams.
A three-year standout with the Big Red (1988-91), Ratushny
represented his native Canada as a member of the Canadian National
Team, playing in more than 100 games while wearing a Team Canada
sweater. He participated in the Izvestia Cup in Moscow in 1988, won
the gold medal at the 1990 World Juniors in Finland, the silver
medal at the Olympic Games in Albertville in 1992 and competed on
three Spengler Cup teams (1988, 1991 and 2000).
After his professional hockey career, Dan returned to Cornell and received his B.Sc. in Economics in 1997. He earned his M.B.A. from HEC Paris/University of Strathclyde Business School in 2003 and his LL.B. from the University of Ottawa Faculty of Law in 2006. Dan is currently an attorney in the corporate department of the international law firm Stikeman & Elliott, working in their Toronto office.
