If you have to handicap the 2009-10 ECAC Hockey season, it’s
hard to pick against Cornell.
Despite losing some key players, including NCAA tournament hero
Evan Barlow and forward Michael Kennedy, the Big Red remain almost
entirely intact. They return their top three scorers in sophomore
forward Riley Nash, and junior forwards Colin Greening and Blake
Gallagher, along with junior goaltender Ben Scrivens, who finished
tied for second in Division 1 in save percentage and third in
goals-against average.
They also have a large group of younger players who appear ready
to have breakout years after playing in the shadows of others. The
Devin brothers – sophomores Joe and Mike – both played
key roles in Cornell’s NCAA regional final run, Mike as a
defender and Joe as a forward. Although Mike is considered the
better of the two players, Joe had a better season statistically,
finishing with eight goals and four assists.
