Boston has Some Good Bitz in Providence
The following article featuring former Cornell standout Byron Bitz appeared in the February 8 issue of the Worcester Telegram & Gazette.
When the Bruins dipped into their Providence reserves on this
latest occasion to get help at forward, they pulled out an
unexpected prize in right wing Byron Bitz.
Left down in the AHL were Martin St. Pierre (team-high 42 points),
Martins Karsums (team-leading 17 goals, 41 points) and Jeremy Reich
(team-best plus-10, 16 goals), all of whom have prior NHL
experience as well as striking numbers.
Instead, the Bruins went with the untested Bitz, who had modest
3-7-10 totals for the P-Bruins and a minus-7 rating. But the
numbers that really mattered were 6-foot-5, 215 pounds and 68
penalty minutes.
