Tyler Bozak had a long list of people to thank yesterday when he
was finally unveiled as the Maple Leafs' latest acquisition out of
the U.S. college ranks.
High up on the list was Joe Nieuwendyk, the Leafs' special
assistant to the general manager, who essentially performed all the
leg work to land Bozak – and fellow collegian Christian
Hanson – to two-year entry-level contracts this week.
For Nieuwendyk, the thousands of miles covered and the time spent
in Denver for Bozak, and Indiana for Hanson, marked another
important step in the GM grooming process he is undergoing in
Toronto.
