Dallas Seeks Past Mojo with GM Nieuwendyk

The summer of 1999 was a pretty cool summer to be a long, tall Texan sports owner ... especially if you were hanging out in upstate New York.

It was in July 10 years ago that Tom Hicks, in his first full season as Texas Rangers owner (and last for now that ended in the playoffs), watched in Cooperstown as Nolan Ryan, the most popular Ranger player ever, was inducted into Baseball's Hall of Fame.

Just one month earlier, Hicks had watched from high atop Buffalo's HSBC Arena as the Dallas Stars captured this area's last championship with a triple-overtime Game 6 Stanley Cup victory over the Sabres.
