ITHACA -- There may not be the glitz and glamour of brackets or network television coverage, but another one of Cornell University's athletics programs is preparing for the next step in its postseason run this weekend.
The Big Red hockey team departed Thursday for Albany and the ECAC Hockey Championship weekend at the Times Union Center. And given the success of the Big Red's basketball programs - both of which earned spots in their respective NCAA tournaments - it's easy to understand why the hockey team would feel like "the other team" for the first time in quite a while.
"With the media and the attention placed upon us - and these guys accept that role when they come here - it has been nice the last couple of weeks," Cornell coach Mike Schafer said. "We've been able to be an underdog at Union and slide under the radar as far as pressure around campus (is concerned)."
