ALBANY -- This was an unusual season for Cornell University. The tradition-laden Big Red never put together a big winning streak (that's rare) and took the old adage of beating teams behind you in the standings to a new level.

The fifth-place Big Red were 12-1-1 against teams finishing 6-12.

That's means they were 0-8 against the top four - Clarkson, Princeton, Harvard and Union. Had eighth-place Colgate not upset regular season champ Clarkson in last week's quarterfinals, the Big Red would have entered Friday night's semifinal against Harvard 0-6-0 against the rest of the semifinal field.

That certainly caught their attention, but senior defenseman Doug Krantz didn't think it would have been any big deal.
