Cornell defenseman Justin Krueger remembers the day in June 2006 when he couldn't have been happier to be the National Hockey League's version of Mr. Irrelevant.

"Obviously I was completely shocked when I got the phone call, because I looked on the Internet and didn't see my name there and there were only like three empty spots open," Krueger said. "So I was like, ‘Aww, whatever.' But I get the call, and I'm like, ‘What? Are you kidding me?'"
