Krantz Continues Career in Texas
ITHACA, N.Y. -- Defenseman Doug Krantz became the latest Cornell senior hockey player to sign a professional contract following the conclusion of the Big Red's season, inking a deal with the Texas Brahmas of the Central Hockey League. Krantz also made his debut with the Brahmas over the weekend, playing in the team's playoff victory over the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs on Sunday night.
Krantz finished his Cornell career with 15 goals and 23 assists for 38 points in 131 career contests. He appeared in every game for the Big Red over the last two seasons and recorded a career +30 rating. For his senior season, the Marysville, B.C., native scored four goals and had three assists, with a goal in his final collegiate contest, the 4-2 victory over Colgate in the ECAC Hockey tournament consolation game.
With Texas, Krantz is reunited with former teammate Kevin McLeod, who has spent the entire 2007-08 season with the Brahmas. McLeod played in 64 regular season games for the Brahmas this year, tallying 12 goals and 22 assists for 34 points. In the playoffs, he has seen action in all four of Texas' games, recording a pair of assists. Additionally, playing for the Brahmas' opponent in Bossier-Shreveport is former Cornellian Daniel Pegoraro, the second-leading scorer for the Mudbugs in the regular season with 62 points on 13 goals and 49 assists.
Game two of the series for Texas against Bossier-Shreveport is tonight in Bossier City, La.
