ITHACA - Beware the goalie with a blank mask.

There's a long-standing stereotype in the higher levels of hockey that those creasekeepers with no identity on their equipment have a similarly non-descript game. It's the calling card of the nomad, a player who can't stick with a team long enough to invest in painting those colors on his mask.

Ben Scrivens knew he wasn't going anywhere. But still, as the new kid on the block last season as a freshman, Scrivens was content to don a simple white mask in tow from his junior days as he tried to establish a role within the program.
