ITHACA - Poor Dan Nicholls. Of eight incoming freshmen to the Cornell men's hockey team, he is the only one without a father, older brother, older sister or twin brother involved with the Big Red program.

"It was definitely a little different because a lot of the guys seemed to know each other a lot better than I do," Nicholls said.

For the second straight season, there are a lot of introductions to be had. Another hefty recruiting class of eight players showed up on East Hill, though this group has a striking familiarity to incumbent players.

Defenseman Jacob Johnston has a pair of sisters on the Big Red's women's team. Defenseman Jordan Berk and forward Tyler Roeszler have fathers who were teammates for three years at Cornell from 1978-81. And then there are the sets of brothers. Forward Patrick Kennedy is the younger brother of junior Michael Kennedy. Highly touted forward Riley Nash is the younger brother of sophomore defenseman Brendon Nash. And twins Joe and Mike Devin provide their own family ties.
